Free worksheet on taking ownership.

A one page accountability worksheet for anyone who keeps explaining a result instead of improving it. Four questions, one action, and room to write. Print it, work it, hand it to somebody who needs it.

One Page Worksheet

Own It.
Every Day.

Responsibility is where growth begins

  • The idea, written plainly
  • What ownership is not
  • Where to watch for it
  • Four questions with room to write
  • One action for this week
  • Space for who will hold you to it

Why a worksheet and not just advice.

Everyone already knows they should take more responsibility. Nobody needs another article telling them accountability matters. What most people have never done is sit down and answer a specific question about a specific situation in their own life, in writing.

That is the whole difference. A thought you have in the shower disappears. A sentence you finished on paper does not.

This worksheet takes about fifteen minutes and it works on its own. You do not need to have read anything first.

What Is On It

The four questions.

  1. Where am I explaining a result instead of improving it?
  2. What is one thing I control that I have not been owning fully?
  3. When something goes wrong, do I look outward or inward first?
  4. If I removed every excuse, what would I have to admit needs to change?

The fourth one is the one people skip, and it is the one that does the work. Answer the first three honestly and the fourth usually writes itself.

Then the worksheet asks for one action you can take this week that is fully within your control, and the name of somebody who will ask you about it. That last line is the difference between a plan and a thought.

Who It Is For

Use it on your own or with a team.

If you feel stuck

When the reasons are all true and nothing is moving anyway, this is the sheet that finds the part you can actually act on.

If you lead people

Run it in a team meeting. Everyone fills one out, then each person names one action out loud. Takes twenty minutes.

After something went wrong

A project missed, a result you did not want. Use it before the story about what happened hardens into a conclusion.

For coaches and teachers

Free to copy and print for a class, a team, or a group. No permission needed and no attribution required.

The moment you take ownership is the moment your life becomes yours again.
