This site has
a lane.
You Are Capable of More is about becoming the best version of yourself. Taking ownership, finding the gear you have not used, and closing the distance between who you are and who you could be. That is what we do, and we take it seriously.
It is not therapy, and it is not crisis support. Those are real professions that take years to train for, and pretending otherwise would not help anybody. So this page is simply a pointer to where that help actually lives.
The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline connects you with a trained crisis counselor anywhere in the United States. You do not have to be thinking about suicide to use it. It is also there for emotional distress, substance use, and for people worried about someone else.
You can also chat at 988lifeline.org. Veterans, service members and their families can press 1 after dialing, or text 838255. If someone is in immediate physical danger, call 911.
988 is a national service and is not affiliated with this site. We do not receive anything for listing it.
If it is bigger than a hard season
There is a real difference between wanting more from your life and carrying something that needs professional care. Nobody can draw that line for you from a webpage. But if it has gone on for months rather than weeks, if it is showing up in your sleep or your health or your relationships, or if people who know you well have said something, that is worth taking to somebody qualified.
Finding a therapist or treatment
The SAMHSA National Helpline is a free referral service for mental health and substance use, in English and Spanish, available around the clock. It does not provide counseling itself, but it connects you with local treatment and support. You can also search directly at findtreatment.gov.
If you would rather text than talk
Crisis Text Line connects you with a trained volunteer counselor over text. Some people find it easier to type something than say it out loud, which is a completely reasonable reason to choose it.
Food, exercise, or body concerns
The National Alliance for Eating Disorders helpline is answered by licensed therapists who specialize in this and can refer you to care at any level. Worth calling whether it is about you or somebody you are worried about. Weekdays, 9am to 7pm Eastern.
These are independent national organizations. We are not affiliated with any of them and receive nothing for listing them. Outside the US, findahelpline.com lists verified helplines by country.
If you are not in crisis, just stuck
That is a completely different thing, and it is what this entire site is built for.
Most people who feel they are capable of more are running into one of a handful of specific barriers, and each one has a different way through it. Getting help with that does not require a professional. It requires knowing which one is actually yours.
You do not believe you can
The voice that talks you out of things right before they could matter.
You are afraid it will not work
It rarely feels like fear. It feels like good timing and being reasonable.
There is never enough time
On intention, presence, and the moments you assume you will always have more of.
You are comfortable and restless
The point where the current version of you runs out of reasons to stay.
You start and do not finish
On drift, course correction, and the stretch where the excitement runs out.
You want to go further
For people already performing who know there is another gear available.
Asking for help is not the opposite of being capable
There is a version of the message on this site that gets twisted into never needing anybody, and that version is wrong.
Taking ownership means dealing with what is actually in front of you. Sometimes that means doing the hard thing yourself. Sometimes it means recognizing that this one is not yours to solve alone and calling somebody who knows more than you do. Both are the same decision.
