Free worksheet on negative self-talk.

A one page worksheet for the voice that speaks with total confidence and no evidence. Four questions, one action, and room to write. Awareness, challenge, replacement, action.

One Page Worksheet

Train Your
Inner Voice.

It will push you forward or hold you back

  • The idea, written plainly
  • Why the goal is not silence
  • Where the voice costs you
  • Four questions with room to write
  • One action for this week
  • Space for who will hold you to it

Not every thought you have is true.

Your inner voice speaks with total confidence and no evidence, and most people never once stop to check whether it is right. It does not feel like doubt from the inside. It feels like being realistic.

This worksheet is not positive thinking and it is not affirmations. You are not telling yourself things that are not true. You are checking whether the thing you already believe is true, and most of the time it turns out not to be.

It takes about fifteen minutes and it works on its own. You do not need to have read anything first.

The Distinction That Matters

A description or a verdict.

A description

“I did not handle that meeting well.”

A moment. Specific, survivable, and something you can do differently next time.

A verdict

“I am not a leader.”

A sentence about who you are. Whatever follows I am tends to become the boundary you live inside.

Every time you describe yourself you are either reinforcing an identity or challenging one. What begins as a description can quietly become a limitation, and almost nobody notices the moment it crosses over.

The worksheet asks you to write both down. Seeing them side by side on paper is usually enough.

What Is On It

The four questions.

  1. What does your inner voice say in the moment right before you hesitate?
  2. What I am label have you been repeating that may be a pattern rather than a permanent truth?
  3. Awareness, challenge, replacement, action. Which step is hardest for you?
  4. Would you speak to someone you love the way you speak to yourself?

The last one is the one that changes behavior. Almost nobody would say to a friend what they say to themselves without noticing, and once you have seen that clearly it is hard to unsee.

Who It Is For

Use it on your own or with a team.

If you hesitate constantly

You have the answer and you do not say it. This finds the specific sentence that runs in that half second.

If you rule yourself out

The job you did not apply for, the thing you decided was not for you. Worth checking whether that decision was evidence based.

If you lead people

Your quietest team member may be your most capable. Run this and ask what their voice says before they speak up.

For coaches and teachers

The doubt may still have a voice, but it no longer gets a vote.
